Not Your Typical MBA- Define Your Corporate Standard

Not Your Typical MBA- Define Your Corporate Standard

I gave someone my business card and first thing she said was "I would have never guessed you had your MBA." I wasn't sure if that was a compliment or an insult. I do know that I don't fit into a typical corporate mold and that's ok. My personality just can't be watered down to fit the culture of most fortune 500 companies. I discovered later than sooner that just because I was good at a certain job doesn't mean I am passionate about it.

My career path is far from what I envisioned it would be while I was in school but the change is welcomed. I spend my days working in property management and all other times working and growing my blog. Blogging has opened so many doors for me so far and I love pursuing this unlikely career path.

When I tell people within my professional organization I get all types of questions because most people see blogging as a hobby and not a career. The most important lesson I have learned is that others are not required to see your vision, only you are. On this blogging journey I have not neglected my formal business education and treat my blog as a business. I take comfort in knowing that if things don't work out I am always climb the corporate ladder. It's this thought that inspires me to go after what I want without fear. I am not afraid of failure becuase I find comfort and security in my experience and education.
